Hello! We’re K.J. and Stephanie and we are a warm and energetic young couple, eager to adopt. We’ve been together for over 4 ½ years and are happily married. Our family includes two dogs and two cats. K.J. is a professor of writing at a large public university and Stephanie is a sociology professor at a small historically black college. One of the greatest things about our jobs is the amount of flexibility we have—we are able to arrange our schedules so that one of us can be home with our child every day. From the beginning of our relationship, we’ve known that we wanted to have children some day and that adoption would be the best path for us. Steph has an adopted brother and five nieces and nephews who are adopted, so we have a solid understanding of the process and the needs that adopted children have. We would welcome a child of any racial or ethnic background. Our multi-racial extended family and community will be a good fit for any child. We hope to have an open relationship with our child’s birth family—sending photos and letters regularly and visiting on an annual basis. Our home is a townhouse that we own in the heart of downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Our downtown location is really convenient for walking to parks, festivals, museums, and the Farmers’ Market. We have an active lifestyle that includes hiking, biking, swimming, cooking, seeing movies, reading, and lots of travel, which we are excited to share with a child.
