Hi, we are Sean and Jan and we have been married for 9 years and have a 5 year-old son named Rowan. We are very excited to be adopting for the first time and look forward to providing another child with a happy and stable home. Sean is a middle school science teacher and Jan is a stream biologist. We spend a lot of our time as a family and enjoy going for walks, cooking, spending time outdoors, going to museums and watching movies. Sean is also interested in animals, playing music, and reading. Jan likes to garden, quilt, and read, and Rowan loves Star Wars and dinosaurs, playing on his swing set and coloring. We have a simple but comfortable life together. We would be committed to sending pictures and letters to you several times a year and open to meeting every year. Because we will be a transracial family we plan on having many open discussions on race and will make a conscientious effort to expose our child to their heritage and make them proud of their race. Jan plans to take off several months when the baby arrives and then her mother, who is a retired nurse, will watch the baby during the day. We are all excited about the prospect of a little one, especially Rowan. He can’t wait to become a big brother and we know he will be a great influence and help. We would describe ourselves as loving, fun, and patient parents who make an effort to expose our child(ren) to new experiences and encourage their interests.
