Kazakhstan Adoption

Program Guidelines

Eligibility

• Married Couples and single women are eligible.
• Single women may not adopt two children during the same trip.
• Both married applicants must be US citizens.
• There can be no more than 45 years age difference between the youngest spouse and the child.

Available Children

• Boys and Girls 7 months to 3 ½ years are available – sibling groups are rare.
• Children are in orphanages
• It may be possible to adopt a second child on the same trip but the second child would be school age or have some type of special need.
• Families may choose gender

Adoption Process

• Approximately 6-9 months between paperwork completing and travel.
• Adoptions are finalized overseas.
• Experienced in-country team escorts you through the process.
• Hague Accredited Country.

Travel Requirements

• In most cases this is a two trip program. The first trip is 3-4 weeks – the second trip is 4-5 days long. 
• Families make their own travel arrangements – AFTH can provide recommendation or assistance if needed.
