People/Ethnicity

Kazaks make up more than half the total population, while Russians make up about one-third. Other ethnic groups in Kazakhstan include Uzbeks, Uighurs, and Tajiks.

Geography

Kazakhstan stretches over a vast expanse of northern and central Eurasia. A small portion of its territory west of the Ural River is located in eastern-most Europe. It has borders with Russia, the People's Republic of China, and the Central Asian countries Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and has a coastline on the Caspian Sea.

Government

Kazakhstan is a unitary republic with a Parliament consisting of two chambers, Senate and Assembly. Head of state is the President.
