Guatemala Adoption

Program Guidelines

Eligibility

• Married couples 25 to 64 may adopt. (If the oldest spouse is 64 the other spouse must be at least 5 years younger.)
• Single women 25 - 60 may adopt.
• Applicants with children are eligible.
• At least one member of a couple or a single applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

Available Children

• Boys and girls 6-8 months and older are available.
• Children live in foster care until placement.

Adoption Process

• Adoptions are arranged through private attorneys.
• DNA testing is performed to ensure that the placing mother is the birth mother.
• Time from paperwork completion to travel is approximately 7-11 months for boys and 9-14 months for girls.
• Adoption must be finalized in the USA.
• Hague Accredited Country.

Travel Requirements

• Flight is only two hours from Miami.
• Families need only travel for 4-5 days to Guatemala City.
